Art Courses

All of my classes will be held in adherence to current guidelines concerning COVID19, masks are mandatory on entering and exiting the buildings and, when held indoors, we will use a very large room so 2m social distancing is easy to maintain.

I am happy to supply a personal voucher as a gift for any of my courses.

One-day Workshops

Held at Dr Neil's Garden, Duddingston, EH15 3PX

one day classes

Landscape

The garden is noted in the Scotland Garden Scheme and is situated on the lower slopes of Arthur's Seat. As well as its historic setting, the garden provides spectacular views and an excellent opportunity to specialise in textures, colour, light and shade working outside.

If the weather is inclement the greenhouse and high walls provide protection from wind and rain. I also have a number of tall one-person tents to use for shelter if needed. A cushion in a plastic bag is very handy, so you can sit anywhere or a folding chair.

Basic materials are required: paper - A2 if possible, light weight board, pencils and any materials you wish to use, if using paint a palette and jar. I will bring along pastels to lend and demonstrate and I am happy to help out with any media.

5th June 2021 Saturday 10:00am - 3:00pm £65

evening and half day classes Printmaking at Dr. Neil's Garden - £150
This exciting weekend at Dr Neil's garden draws inspiration from the flowers and foliage, shadows and colours in this beautiful garden.

To begin we will take time to sketch and draw out our design onto paper. We will be using a more modern type of plate ( polystyrene ), which cuts out the sharp tools but still produces some wonderful lino prints. Then we will ink up the plate using hand rollers and see the results. It is easy to change and develop the print adding more detail and colours.

All levels of ability are welcome. Aged 16 years upward.

All materials will be supplied which includes paper, watercolours, pastels, acrylics, easels and boards.

evening and half day classes Mono & Repeat Pattern Printing - £150
Another exciting weekends at Dr Neil's garden, drawing inspiration from the flowers and foliage, shadows and colours in this beautiful garden.

This weekend we will use two different printing techniques, Mono printing and Repeat pattern printing.

Mono printing is a form of printmaking with lines and images that has a one - off image. We will use a variety of textures and drawing to produce a number of single prints onto paper.

The other technique is repeat pattern printing, where the motif is repeated in exactly the same way both horizontally and vertically producing a regular pattern. We will use a lightweight block to draw and work into.

All levels of ability are welcome. Aged 16 years upward.

All materials will be supplied which includes paper, watercolours, pastels, acrylics, easels and boards.
Date Day Time
